It is very important event for Japanese to celebrate New Year's days with special dishes. The New Year's days are January first to the third. All the family prepare specific dishes by cooking or purchase cooked food in grocery market in the end of the former year.
The traditional custom is similar to the dinner in Thanks giving day in the U.S. Like preparing roast turkey and pumpkin pie for the family gathering, we prepare same food, but the taste are depend on the family every year for New Year's days.
